October 12th Results

I played two non-turbo 9mans on the 12th.

Like I said, I just wanna ease back into winning after getting raped for so long.

And ease back I did.

I won both of them.

Felt real good to run decent.

I might play today, I might not. No pressure.

You really suck man! So much for your post to be more professional and play through the month with a set schedule. Volume, blah, blah, blah.....just hang it up loser!!!

adamsapple19,

I think you just have to keep at it but make adjustments as needed. My first 1000 tourneys this month was driving me crazy. I felt like I was playing well but at the end of the day, I was losing money. Although overall, I wasn't down a whole lot but it was the worse start to a month for me. Plus, I hate being down, period, and it put me in a terrible mood - not conducive to playing poker. For the first 1000 tourneys this month, I was playing approximately 200 45-max a day. I was running up to 35 tables at a time and I had grandeur of seeing my hourly rate skyrocket. But it didn't happen that way. After that first 1000 (and getting a negative result out of them), I got so sick of the 45-max SNGs that I decided to try other games to break up the routine - the routine of losing. I played some DONs (which I realize I still hate the format), some STT SNGs (that I just don't seem to have the patience for like larger field games), and some micro limit cash. I wasn't having any success with the DONs and STTs for the next 500 games but surprisingly, I was up for like three or four days playing cash. Mind you, the amount I was up was tiny but you know what, it felt good to be up. That feeling changed my mindset and I slowly eased the 45-maxes back and started seeing some really, really postive results. ;) I've since dropped the stupid DONs, STTs, and cash games and am back in the 45-max grind - my bread and butter. I also added in 180s and have Final Tabled and cashed in a few of those, too. Another change I made was dropping from playing 200 tourneys a day to around 70 with less than 20 tables at a time. I think you know what I'm trying to say: just keep plugging away. Make adjustments if you have to. I know you had a certain goal for October but you're playing poker, dude. You're your own rules maker. If something isn't working, change the rules. The downswing will go away. It will. If you are a winning player, you will win in the long term. P.S.: I am jealous of your first half 2009 winnings. That's where I'd like to be at some day but right now, my comfort zone for average buy-in is around the $5 dollar mark so I have a ways to go. ;) P.P.S.: I hope I didn't jinx my current upswing with this post. Hehe...

listen to the poster who wrote a small book about getting back on the grind

its time to do this adam. i understand taking a day or two off if youre running bad but by now if youre not HUNGRY to play and oozing with determination, maybe you shouldnt be doing this for a living

gl though, as an mtt grinder with an average buyin around $30 we're in the same boat

im really looking forward to future updates

pm me on p5 if you ever want to talk

It is very amusing in a sad kind of way how pathetic people are! Actually going to the bother of berating someone they don't even know for not adhering to their own schedule. Utter idiots - variance can be insanely brutal 99.9% of people have no idea how negative variance can last into the months of full time play - I can completely understand your unwillingness to play. Just try to accept that their will be horrifying month+ long stretches, but you just gotta keep playing and soon enough you reach a positive couple of month stretch.
Good luck and hang on in there
