I don't have the time to play many MTTs, but was wondering if you find it a little intimidating having to avg $800/day in winnings just to break even for the night? I've noticed that many TLB leaders with $100k+ profit are actually break-even players if you take away their ONE biggest score. Do you try to keep even over a certain number of smaller buyin games then take more chances to get deep in, say the $70k GTD?
Ya, if I really stop and think about the money I'm putting in on a nightly basis then it could get to me a little. But I've been practicing good bankroll management for so long now that I really don't even bat an eye about it.
I do try to play a variety of large fields and smaller fields to keep variance in check but even that doesn't always keep a nasty downswing away.
I don't really play any differently in terms of taking chances in bigger field/buyin tourneys late game. Results just always come from good decision-making and that's what I try to focus on.
Excellent blog! I'm definitely a little envious that you get to play MTTs everyday and I'm playing mundane cash games. Very impressive that you're making a good profit with great consistency too-the reason that I switched over to cash games a while ago was just because I figured it would be a more consistent source of income and I would get more stars around my avatar ;/
